In Maine, higher populations mean more motor vehicle accidents

Accidents are happening more and more on roadways in the state of Maine. A number of factors are contributing to the rise in motor vehicle accidents, but a main reason seems to be higher traffic volumes. There are more vehicles on the road than ever before as populations increase across the state. Unfortunately, not all drivers exercise caution behind the wheel. A recent multiple-vehicle crash in Norridgewock resulted in injuries.

The accident happened on Madison Road during the morning hours. According to reports, the driver of a northbound Scion crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck a loaded log truck that was traveling south. After the initial impact, the Scion then collided with a southbound Hyundai sedan, reports said.

Reportedly, a pickup truck that had slowed down due to the crash was then rear-ended by a Chevrolet sedan. Authorities said five total vehicles were involved in the crash. The driver of the Scion and the driver of the Chevrolet sedan were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.

These days, just getting from point A to point B can be very risky. To prevent motor vehicle accidents, all drivers should obey posted speed limits and always keep a safe following distance. Most importantly, it is crucial to remain focused behind the wheel at all times. When a Maine resident suffers injuries due to the negligence of another party in an accident, he or she may be able to take legal action. A successful claim could result in compensation to help with medical expenses and other monetary losses.
