Premises liability: Alleged slippery floor leads to injuries

The state of Maine is home to a plethora of first-class stores and fine dining establishments. Visitors from all over the world come here to enjoy these wonderful shops and restaurants. Fortunately, all public places across the state must comply with strict safety regulations to ensure the safety of legal visitors. Premises liability laws require property and business owners to eliminate hazards or provide warning of potentially dangerous conditions. Unfortunately, something as minor as a wet floor can cause to severe injuries to customers.

A woman in another state filed a lawsuit after she allegedly fell while entering a restroom in a restaurant. According to the lawsuit, the woman encountered a wet floor while walking into the restroom. Allegedly, the woman slipped and fell due to the wet floor.

The woman claims she suffered serious injuries as a result of her fall. She said the floors were unreasonably slippery and there were no signs to warn customers of the dangerous condition. The plaintiff accuses the defendant of negligence by failing to maintain a safe condition and failing to provide warning of the alleged hazard. She seeks a trial by jury and all just relief.

Tragically, there are thousands of customers injured every year in shops and restaurants across the country due to slippery floors and other hazards. Premises liability laws were established to protect all those who lawfully visit public places. Those in Maine who have suffered injuries as a result of hazardous conditions in  stores and restaurants may be able to take legal action. A successful claim could result in compensation to replace lost wages and help victims with medical expenses.
