Drunk driving accident results in injuries and pending charges

Despite increased public awareness, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol continues to be a very dangerous problem in the state of Maine and across the country. It's no secret that driving while intoxicated is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. Driving takes constant focus and concentration, and alcohol drastically impairs focus and significantly decreases reaction time. Recent statistics say that two out of every three people in the United States will be involved in a drunk driving accident during their lifetime.

Recently, an alleged drunk driver injured a passenger when she crashed her vehicle and now she could be facing very serious charges. The crash happened during the overnight hours on Route 26 in New Gloucester. Allegedly, the woman was driving a Jeep southbound when she crashed into a telephone pole and struck several trees.

Authorities say the driver of the jeep and a passenger were both injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. According to police, alcohol was a factor in the crash and criminal charges will be made. Reports say Route 26 was reduced to one lane for several hours following the accident.

It is common knowledge that drunk driving is not only illegal, but incredibly irresponsible and dangerous. Intoxicated drivers not only endanger themselves, but all others around them. Families in Maine who have been affected by a drunk driving accident could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced attorney. A successful claim could result in compensation to help victims and families recover any financial losses that occurred as a result of this type of accident.
